KENOSHA – The Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund, along with the City of Kenosha, is pleased to announce the 2017 Lincoln Park Live Music Series, kicking off with a blues concert by the Ivy Ford Band at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday June 21. Five free concerts will be held on Wednesdays in June, July, August, and September in Kenosha’s historic Warren J. Taylor flower garden in Lincoln Park, located at 22nd Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive.

The concert venue opens at 5:30 p.m., with shows at 6:30 p.m. Ivy Ford, age 23, brings a refreshing yet classic face to the blues. Ford has opened for Buddy Guy and played alongside blues greats including Toronzo Cannon. Ford fronts her own bands and handles her cherry red, Epiphone-339 in such a way to make anyone tune in to what she has to say.

Two decades ago, Lincoln Park Live launched a showcase musical event in Kenosha’s largest park with great success. Now, in its third season of re-creation, it is set to return with a strong selection of jazz, salsa and rhythm & blues concerts. Musical groups include both local and regional music acts from northern Illinois to Milwaukee.

Lincoln Park represents a central place for Kenosha’s children and families to gather for picnics, sporting events, weddings, and a host of other fun-filled activities,” said Tim Mahone, chairman of the Mahone Fund. “We are happy to build upon last year’s success of Lincoln Park Live and continue to work with the residents of such a beautiful neighborhood to bring
high quality music to the historic flower garden.”

“The concert series has received tremendous success and support of the neighborhood residents and the community,”said Mayor John Antaramian. “The city is proud to partner with the Mahone Fund in presenting live music in our beautiful Lincoln Park.”

Performances include:

  • June 21: Ivy Ford Band – Blues
  • July 12: NABORI – Latin Jazz Salsa
  • July 26: Infusion – Jazz
  • Aug. 9: Rogers Randle & Company Band – Rhythm & Blues
  • Sept. 13: Back to School Celebration – Kal Bergendahl Project

KENOSHA – The final concert of the 2016 Lincoln Park Live Music Series has been postponed from tonight to 6 p.m. Sept. 28. The concert – presented by the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund and the City of Kenosha– features the salsa sounds of Nabori in Kenosha’s historic Warren J. Taylor flower garden in Lincoln Park, located at 22nd Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive.
Lincoln Park Live is proudly supported by Herzing University, the Kenosha CommunityFoundation, UW-Parkside, Kenosha Creative Space and Casey Family Options. Parking is allowed on the north side of Martin Luther King Drive. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Since 2006 Naborí has remained true to its original mission; to create and perform original salsa in the tradition of the Salsa explosion of the 1970s. Naborí’s first production, released in 2008, “Historias Del Barrio,” captured the essence of classic salsa with eight original compositions drawn from the powerful stories found in the Latin American experience. “De
Nuevo En El Solar” released in 2013 is an eight-song recording displaying a higher level of musical sophistication by Nabori. The still powerful stories are now told over arrangements by the likes of pianist Andy Guzman (Mulenze) and Venezuelan pianist Willie Melo that underscore Nabori’s well thought out evolution. This album promises to fuel the band’s growth as a regional/national salsa powerhouse. Nabori has already been featured in regional venues such as The Chicago International Salsa Congress, The St. Louis Salsa Congress, and the electrifying Voodoo Lounge in Kansas City, MO.

Lincoln Park Live Wraps Up Season With 2 Last Concerts

“We want to close the music series together with long time, loyal Lincoln Park residents and the new arrivers who have come to the park this summer to discover a neighborhood revival”

(Kenosha, WI) As school children head back to class, bring on the drums! On September 14, from 6:00-8:00pm, Lincoln Park Live features its “Back to School Jazz and Drums Concert” hosting the Elite Striders Drill Team Drum Corp, our own Lincoln Middle School Jazz Band and the UW-Parkside Jazz Combo featuring Russ Johnson. This line up will contrast young aspiring jazz musicians with forceful rhythms that only drum lines can deliver.

And then on September 21—again from 6:00-8:00pm, the concluding concert brings to a close the summer season of top-notch live music and local cuisine.

Lincoln Park Live organizers and neighborhood residents extend a final invitation to the community to meet once more in the flower garden and draw down summer over farewells and promises to keep in touch.

This final concert will feature a “mash-up” of styles and genres such as Mt. Hebron Church of God In Christ Praise Team, Kal Bergandahl Project of Jazz, and Nabori—a closing act of salsa music sure to bring these new and old friends together on the dance floor.

See you then!
